Annuitization

You can tailor the income you receive from your Variable Annuity to match your needs, including the option to provide you with a steady stream of income that you can't outlive.1

You can receive payments that:

  • Will last as long as you live (a "life annuity")
  • Will last as long both you and your spouse (or other person you select) live (a "joint and survivor annuity")
  • Will last for your lifetime and/or a specific period of time (a "life with period certain annuity")
  • Will last for a specific period of time (a "period certain annuity")
  • Will pay a specified amount of money per month until your account is depleted (a "fixed amount annuity")

When choosing to annuitize, you can also decide whether your payments will be fixed or variable:

  • With the fixed option, you'll receive the same amount each period (on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis).
  • With the variable option, the amount of your payments will vary depending on the investment performance of the options you have selected.

The maximum age at which you can annuitize is 95 (Some qualified plans may require annuitization at an earlier age.) It is important to keep in mind that you can not change your annuitization payment choice once payments have started. So be sure to consult your financial or tax adviser before selecting a payment option.

1 Payment is based on the claims-paying ability of the insurer.
